The requirements include choosing a flat area with sufficient space for the pitch, along with room for runoff areas and any required facilities (changing rooms, parking, etc.). Our experienced inhouse planners and designers are on hand to help advise on the best area for your hockey pitch and help with any questions you may have.
Following on from in-depth surveys and ground investigation, an earthworks strategy will be developed and then implemented in line with the results. This would typically involve a topsoil strip, followed by cut and fill earthworks to achieve the required formation plateau.
We can design and install irrigation and attenuation systems tailored to your pitch. Our team of specialists have years of experience in water management, and Group company the Environmental Protection Group has water engineers specialising in SuDS designs and hydraulic calculations. This means no matter how niche the challenge – we have the people to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Good water management can help save on huge costs and protect against water shortages or excessive rainfall which can disrupt games and cause damage.
Most modern hockey pitches use artificial turf or a synthetic surface which is designed to provide consistent ball bounce and player traction. We will work with you and share advice on which is the most suitable choice for your space and the maintenance requirements.
When your pitch is installed, we’ll conduct surface tests to determine that the playing surface is functioning and performing correctly. For water-based pitches, we’ll ensure your irrigation system is providing the correct amount of water for your pitch.
We can provide a 12-month strategy and maintenance team following the completion of the project. We will ensure the pitches are withstanding any seasonal wear and tear, all year round. We can provide training for grounds teams to enable you to continue the maintenance strategy long after we have left.
