Carrick Wins School Contracts in Florence & Afon Taf

Ending the year on a high, Carrick Construction has secured two large school projects worth £2 million.

Work is already underway to provide Florence MacWilliams School in Stoke, and Afon Taf High School in Troed-y-Rhiw, Wales with new sports facilities for the pupils and communities to use and enjoy.

Sports facilities at educational establishments are of the utmost importance. From keeping children active through their school years to training elite athletes through university, having accessible, resilient and high performing surfaces is key.

Carrick works alongside schools, colleges and universities across the UK to provide sports facilities that meet their aspirations and budget.

Now part of STRI Group, Carrick Construction offers design services as well as construction to their clients. Florence MacWilliams school will be a provided with the design of a 3G pitch, MUGA and grass sport pitches and Carrick will install to the specification, providing a seamless service for the client.

Toby Grace, Business Development Manager for Carrick Construction stated, “It is great to see investment in sports for schools. It not only betters physical health but promotes positive mental health and routine for children, these jobs are a real pleasure to work on.”

For Afon Taf High School, a 3G artificial turf pitch and flood lighting for the existing running track will be constructed, due for completion in early 2025. The pitch will meet the requirements set out by FIFA Quality and World Rugby Reg 22 and will be tested to meet requirements for the FAs 3G pitch register.

Maintenance for any pitch is important, and Carrick Construction provides a 12-month maintenance regime, ensuring the pitches and surfaces remain in the best condition possible and withstand all seasons.
